What is the Secret to Recovery?
Nov 12, 2023I was recently asked by a player what he should be doing to help his recovery. He said he was always tired before his workouts and games. He felt as if he was doing everything he could to help recover from each workout.
He was foam rolling, using the compression boots, and even stretching, but he still always felt tired.
After talking with him, he admitted that he was only getting 5 hours of sleep on average each night. There was his biggest flaw! No matter how many different recovery strategies you do, you will never be able to recover without enough sleep!
In fact, there are 3 foundational elements to recovery and performance that you need before you gain benefit from foam rolling, compression boots, or any other recovery tools.
Those foundations include:
- Sleep
- Hydration
- Nutrition
