Should I Take Time Off From Throwing in the Off-Season?
Oct 22, 2023Every off-season I get the question: Should I take time off throwing and if so, how much time should I take off?
Throughout the year, your arm and body go through a lot of stress. With any type of stress, in order to build strength and durability, we need some time for recovery and restoration. The off-season is a perfect time to work on the foundational layers needed in throwing.
For most cases, I would say that you should definitely take time, 8 weeks of complete rest, of throwing.
In this video, I talk about the time needed to build strength, recover, restore, and develop your arm. I also talk about the only time I would say it is ok if a player could continue to throw in the off-season.
